St. Charles Park District: Golf simulator provides year-round golfing opportunities

Do you dream of playing golf at St. Andrews in Scotland? Or maybe in Pebble Beach? Make that dream a reality.

Virtually reality, that is.

Through the newly-installed Foresight GC Quad Launch golf simulator at the Pottawatomie Golf Course Pro Shop, you can choose from 20 prestigious golf courses across the globe. Play nine holes, 18 holes or practice on the simulated driving range.

But that’s not all. The simulator helps improve your game by monitoring your performance with data on your ball and swing speed, carry, roll and distance, path, contact and more.

Additionally, Ron Skubisz, golf course manager and PGA Golf Pro, said the simulator can take golfers through repetitive motions, creating consistency. And the range function will help work on all phases of the game. The simulator can even help golfers test their new clubs.

The golf simulator is available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily all year long, even when the golf course is closed for the winter.

For an entry fee of $35, you can join Pottawatomie’s new Winter Simulator League beginning Nov. 29. Call 630-584-8356 to register. Members will have one week, Sunday through Saturday, to complete the assigned weekly course as set by the League Administrator. Rounds, $25 per hour, must be played with another member for verification.

Due to COVID-19 physical distancing restrictions, initial participation will be limited to a maximum of two participants per reservation. Golf Pro staff will be available for assistance.

“We hope to attract golfers throughout the year, introduce new players to game and host a variety of recreational and competitive leagues,” Skubisz said. “We want Pottawatomie Golf Course to be a fun, year-round golf venue for all ages.”

Using the simulator, it takes a single golfer approximately one hour to play 18 holes. Two golfers should reserve two hours to play 18 hole. Reserve your time by calling 630-584-8356. The cost per hour is $25 for residents and $30 for nonresidents.
