Rondi Reed, a Tony winner, and Francis Guinan, both members of Steppenwolf Ensemble, will star in a world-premiere virtual reading of Adam Szymkowicz’s "Such Small Hands" on Oct. 14. The performance is part of the New Play Lab of Kane Repertory Theatre of St. Charles.
The reading will be directed by BJ Jones, artistic director of Northlight Theatre in Skokie, a news release stated. The digital workshop begins at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 14 on YouTube and will remain available until Oct. 18.
A live talk-back with playwright Adam Szymkowicz, Rondi Reed, Francis Guinan, director BJ Jones, and Kane Repertory Artistic Director Daniil Krimer will follow the reading. All of the Kane Rep readings are free to watch, but a donation of $25 is suggested.
In the play, Paul is cancer ridden and descending into dementia. He wants to take his own life while he still feels like himself. Marie, his wife, fights to prevent his suicide. It's a play about love, aging, selfishness and selflessness.
Since late May, Kane Repertory Theatre’s New Play Lab has workshopped multiple works. Next up will be Ken Urban’s "Danger and Opportunity" on Oct. 28, directed by Mark Brokaw.
